Applications for the Advanced Standing Program are currently open on a rolling basis until July 2016.

Seneca Family of Agencies (Seneca) has partnered with the University of Southern California's School of Social Work to offer Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) graduates the opportunity to complete a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree online—while working at Seneca. Admission to the advanced standing program allows students to complete their MSW degree in less time than a traditional MSW program by waiving certain course requirements. Students applying for this option must demonstrate their readiness to perform at the level of a second-year MSW student.

Completion Requirements

  • Complete 35 units, including an elective course on Seneca’s therapeutic practice model.
  • Fulfill two semesters of paid fieldwork at a one of over 100 Seneca program locations throughout California delivering community- and school-based, crisis response, mental health or foster care and adoption services.
  • Finish the program in four semesters while working and receiving full-time wages and benefits.
