Graduate fieldwork (MSW internship, MFT traineeship, PsyD practicum, etc.) for both Seneca employees and those unaffiliated with Seneca is available throughout our programs in Northern, Central, and Southern California, as well as our programs in Washington state. There are also a number of undergraduate internships available in Southern California. Please note MFT interns and other post-graduates are not eligible for our fieldwork program, which is designed for those enrolled in graduate programs (or certain eligible baccalaureate programs in Southern California). However, you may qualify for any of the Clinician/Therapist positions at Seneca. As an employee, Seneca will assist you in gaining your hours, trainings, as well as supervision and support as you move towards licensure.

Earn Your MSW or MFT While Working at Seneca

Seneca has partnered with CSU Northridge’s online MSW program, CSU San Bernardino’s Pathways Distance Education MSW, Columbia University’s Reduced Residency online MSW,  University of Southern California’s online MSW, and Pacific Oak College’s online MFT program to offer Seneca employees the opportunity to earn a Master of Social Work or Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy.  

Seneca staff selected for this program receive significant scholarships from Seneca, as well as completing their internship for pay, allowing staff to continue earning full-time wages and benefits throughout the program. Seneca staff who received an undergraduate BSW from an accredited program can join the Advanced Standing cohort and complete the program in 4 semesters, while those with another undergraduate degree complete the program in 2.5-3 years.

Seneca employees are eligible to apply to obtain their mild/moderate special education teaching credential through Loyola Marymount University. Seneca provides substantial scholarships toward the credential while staff continue to work and earn full-time pay and benefits. Employees may obtain an optional M.Ed. following completion of the special education credential. The credential can be earned in one or two years, and the optional M.Ed. is completed after the credential.
