School Spotlight: Impact Academy

By Cassey Lorezco
At Seneca, our Unconditional Education (UE) Programs are rooted in the belief that every young person deserves to feel safe, supported, and capable of success—no matter the challenges they face. Our new partnership at Impact Academy in Hayward, CA—part of Envision Education, a network of public charter schools—marks an exciting step forward in expanding this commitment within the school community. Through embedded mental health and wellness services, we collaborate closely with school staff, students, families, and community partners to remove barriers to learning and support the whole child.

A powerful example of this growing partnership is the leadership and collaboration of Wendy Garcia, Certified Wellness Coach/Behavioral Support Specialist, and our Seneca Clinicians Farigol Bineshpour and Luna Khalil. Together, they have all been providing social skills groups to strengthen students’ emotional regulation, communication, and peer relationship skills. Farigol and Luna also provide ongoing therapeutic sessions to ensure students receive consistent, individualized mental health support tailored to their unique needs. In addition, Wendy has established partnerships with the San Lorenzo Food Bank to provide free access to food, collaborated with Big Smiles to bring free dental cleanings to campus, and worked with NewEyes.org to secure free vision consultations and access to $15 eyeglasses for students in need. Wendy also successfully enrolled the school in incentive programs with Applebee’s, In-N-Out, and Panda Express, allowing students to earn free gift cards in recognition of academic excellence.
These partnerships and services not only address essential needs but also celebrate student growth and achievement, reinforcing the message that every student is valued and capable. As our partnership with Impact Academy continues to grow,we remain committed to building sustainable supports that empower students to thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally.
