Intensive Community-Based Services

Seneca Services Intensive Community Based Services

Overview

Youth and families who are experiencing complex challenges may benefit from supportive services beyond individual therapy — and that can be delivered at home or in school. While Seneca’s Intensive Community-Based Services can look different from program to program, they all share one critical feature in common: they are offered wherever and whenever families need them most.

Approach

Seneca’s community-based program staff travel to each family’s home — or anywhere else they feel most comfortable receiving support. We also work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, to ensure that services are convenient for busy families. Seneca’s intensive community-based services follow many different program models depending on region, but include:

  • Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS): TBS offers focused, strength-based interventions to prevent the need for higher levels of care. Services are delivered in the family’s home, school, or community, with specialists working with families to learn and integrate behavioral interventions into their daily routines.
  • Intensive Home-Based Services (IHBS): IHBS staff provide behavioral coaching and guidance in the home to help families directly address challenges. IHBS teams may include peer partners with lived experience either receiving services themselves or parenting a child who has received public child welfare or behavioral health services.
  • Intensive Stabilization Services (ISS): ISS is offered to youth and families who have experienced a recent mental health crisis that requires more than just immediate stabilization support. Staff work with the family on implementing ongoing safety planning, building youth coping skills, and connecting them to long-term community resources.
  • Case Management: Seneca case managers can help assess a child and family’s strengths and needs, connect them to needed resources, and coordinate care with other providers to meet their comprehensive needs.
