Mobile Response

Seneca Services Mobile Response Furs

Overview

Mobile response services are provided to youth and families in serious distress, offering support in homes, at school, in the community, or by phone. These services are provided by trained crisis response staff with the goal of avoiding unnecessary law enforcement involvement or hospitalization of young people.

Approach

Seneca’s mobile response teams are designed to offer families and providers an alternative to calling 911 and involving law enforcement when there are immediate safety concerns related to a youth’s mental health status. Mobile response staff provide these crisis intervention services in homes, schools, and community locations across California and Washington.

Mobile response teams assess safety risks and work with youth and caregivers to develop a safety plan and connection to ongoing, community-based resources to reduce the likelihood of future crises. In many locations, Seneca can provide youth with additional short-term, community-based, crisis stabilization support for 30 to 60 days following an initial crisis.

Seneca is also a Family Urgent Response System (FURS) provider across many California counties. FURS is a mobile response program specifically for current and former foster youth and caregivers of foster youth.
