Overview
Seneca’s Prevention Services are designed to support families and prevent the need for formal child welfare involvement. Our programs offer parents and caregivers practical tools, encouragement, and resources to strengthen families and keep children safe at home.
Approach
Differential Response
Differential Response is a child welfare approach designed to connect families with lower safety risks to resources and coaching to prevent a child’s removal from their home. Seneca DR staff work with families to set short- and long-term goals to build family skills that promote safety and help them meet their needs.
Child and Family Team Facilitation
When a child welfare case does open, families are brought together with their support networks in what’s called a Child and Family Team (CFT). These meetings are meant to go beyond addressing surface behaviors, focusing instead on the deeper needs of children and families. Our trained facilitators help families invite the right people to the table, guide conversations so every voice is heard, and ensure action steps are clear and doable. With this support, families are better able to access resources, stay connected, and move toward lasting stability.
