How long have you been with Seneca?
I have been with Seneca for almost 4 years now. I started in June 2022.
How/why did you start working at Seneca?
I learned about Seneca during an internship fair at my University. Dawn Henson happened to be the one representing Seneca. She gave a great elevator speech about what Seneca represents, and the different programs offered at Seneca. I loved everything about it. It sounded like the exact environment and population I wanted to work for. I let Dawn know that I was job hunting instead of looking for an internship and she explained the application process.
What is your title at Seneca and what does your role entail?
I am a Wraparound Facilitator for the Monterey County Wraparound Program. My role is to coordinate with the client/family and providers to help tailor services and support in addressing the family’s needs to help children remain in their homes and improve functioning. Each family has their own vision of success, so I help to empower and guide them through that vision.
What is your favorite part about working at Seneca?
I enjoy the camaraderie that exists within Seneca. It’s a very supportive, flexible environment. Everyone also genuinely cares about supporting the families that we serve.
Is there an impactful or favorite memory you’d like to share from your time at Seneca?
I would say the most impactful memories I have are the ones where we get to celebrate the family’s accomplishments in our program by hosting a Wraparound Graduation. It can be a bittersweet moment because we get a lot of family’s who say they’ll miss working with us, but the reason we’re graduating them is because we supported them in achieving their goals.
Why should donors support Seneca?
Donations are vital for us to continue supporting our community’s well-being. It’s because of our donors that Seneca can fulfill its mission and create a lasting impact. We’re very grateful to our donors.
What do you wish more people understood about mental health?
I believe everyone struggles with their mental health at some point in life, so experiencing mental health challenges is normal and may come in waves. A lot of resources exist out there to support you. Mental health directly impacts overall wellbeing so it’s important to regularly take care of your mental state and seek help when needed.
Anything else you’d like to share?
Just that I’m very grateful for this opportunity to share and be a part of the Seneca family.
